Congressman Lance Visits CPL Programs

Congressman Leonard Lance visited the Cerebral Palsy League in February to learn more about the services the League offers children and adults with developmental disabilities and the community as a whole. Lance toured the League’s Jardine Academy and was treated by students to a short version of the play “West Side Story” using voice output devices – or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) products – to help them speak their parts.

“I think they do a wonderful job here,” Lance said after the tour. “The students should be commended. I think they did as good a job as (choreographer) Jerome Robbins.”

Lance also toured CPL’s Adult Services, where as he watched Cerebral Palsy League clients processing medical film for recycling he saw first-hand how the program not only provides training for people with developmental disabilities but also allows them to be productive and contributive while enjoying the rewards of working hard and earning a pay check.
